The house itself, overlooking the lake and apple orchards, was built in 1764 and was, at the time of its completion, as it is now, one of the great houses of the county of Nottinghamshire. It also has an amazing classical interior with tall windows, gorgeous flooding natural light and tasteful decor providing an excellent backdrop for some fabulous interior Bride & Groom Portraits.

Charlotte was quite specific about of the style and type of photography she wanted, nothing too flouncy, posed or cheesy! I've tried to keep it relaxed & contemporary here, to capture them very naturally, just being themselves which I think shows in the shots below.

I'm really looking forward to photographing the big day and making the most of Norwood's grounds, fingers crossed for some nice weather!!

Dean and I would also like to add our thoughts too.   We are absolutely thrilled with the photographs - they are simply stunning.   We asked for natural shots that captured the emotions of the day and you took into account the style of photography that we wanted but delivered so much more.  The service we received was personal and friendly whilst being professional;  all our guests commented on how relaxed you made them feel and how they appreciated that you respected that family and friends would want to take photographs as well.  Many of our family members were worried that having a photographer all day would be intrusive as we had such a small wedding party, but this couldn't have been further from the truth; many of the photographs have been taken without the subject even being aware that you were there!  

Thank you so much for capturing every second of our special day and for recording our memories so beautifully so that we can share each moment with our family and friends.

We cannot recommend you highly enough - the experience was perfect in every way!

Deb & Dean's wedding took place later in the day, which at this time of year provided a challenge for me, as the light was particularly low and with the clear evening sky it meant quite harsh, high contrast light as the sun was setting. This kind of light can be very dramatic particularly if you shoot into it... I've included some of my favourites below and you'll see how I've used the strong setting sunlight to my advantage to almost silhouette Deb & Dean against the trees as the sun went down... very dramatic, romantic warm light.

I've also had a go at a HDR (High Dynamic Range) image comp (Top, Below) of Deb & Dean with the huge and absolutely beautiful Ancient Cedar Tree, which dominates the gardens at Dovecliffe. I love this tree and always try to create a nice shot featuring it at most of the weddings I do here. I think this one is particularly nice with the warm backlight of the setting sun breaking through the branches, leading your eye to Deb & Dean as they walk through the overhang towards the camera. The Castle holds a multitude of photo opportinities for any creative photographer and I could quite litterally have spent days shooting Bride & Groom portraiture wandering it's gorgeous, ornate grounds, halls, reception rooms & galleries.

Caroline & Mike met with me at Belvoir for a pre wedding shoot a couple of months before the big day, you can view the pics here. In my opinion a pre shoot is an essential part of the wedding package, ensuring you get the best out of the venue. Meeting up beforehand allows you to have a good scout around, both inside & out, to find the best potential spots for pictures on the day, brush away any fears or potential problems both the Bride & Groom or the photographer might have about the venue on the day. Plus you get a nice set of casual portraits! and will know what to expect on the day, making you much more relaxed.
